North Texas Paintless Dent Repair

Collin County, TX Guide to Auto Hail Repair

Plano, The Colony, Frisco, and Allen: Steps to Take After the Storm

Hail storms are nothing new to North Texas, especially when we’re specifically talking about Collin County, TX. Year after year, this area seems to get it the worst.

In fact, Allstate posted this on 19 Mar, 2019,

“Allstate tallied the top 25 Texas counties affected by severe weather, identifying areas with the highest number of wind-, lightning- and hail-related property damage claims from 2008 through 2018. Collin County tops the list for the highest number of claims over the past ten years.” ~ Sited from PRN Newswire at Cision website.

Zach Salzman, co-owner of MetalWorks Hail, has been repairing hail-damaged vehicles in Addison, TX since 2014. In May of 2023, MetalWorks opened a second paintless dent repair location in Lewisville, TX. Both locations provide auto hail repair services to all of Collin County, TX including, but not limited to, Plano, The Colony, Frisco, Allen, Addison, and Lewisville.

Collin County, TX Auto Hail Repair Guide

If you live in ANY city located in Collin County, TX – the following tips about auto hail damage repair might be nothing new to you but just like any other industry, there are shifts and trends. The following points are what we feel reflect the latest updates in the paintless dent repair industry involving the insurance industry & hail claims, the damage we’ve seen from the 2023 hail storms, and more.

  1. Hail Damage Claims. If you haven’t heard of the term Insurance Steering, this is what you need to know because we’ve been hearing a lot about it popping up after this springs storms. Insurance companies “partner” with local auto body shops & paintless dent repair shops and include them on their list of “preferred repair shops.”
The partnership is one that primarily benefits the insurance company. The shop agrees to a discounted pricing matrix and the insurance company adds them to their “preferred partner” list. The discounted pricing directly benefits the insurance company. If you feel as though you are being pressured in any way to choose a repair shop that is on a “preferred list,” this is illegal. You only pay an insurance company to protect your investment, not for automotive repair advice. They might insinuate that other shops will not provide the same quality of service, and even go as far as to claim that if you choose to venture outside of their “network” you won’t get a warranty on the repairs. This is absolutely false.
The auto body shops and paintless dent repair shops alone decide if they will offer their customers a warranty on the work performed. The insurance company has NOTHING to do with this. It is YOUR choice as to whom repairs the hail damage on your vehicle.
  2. Do your research. The biggest piece of advice we can provide to anyone is to do your research. Google reviews are a great place to start. Call local Plano, Allen, The Colony paintless dent repair shops and ask them how long they’ve been in business, if they are a local company, and what kind of warranty they offer they provide with their repairs.
  3. Upgrade your insurance. If you plan on reselling your vehicle in the future, you should carry Comprehensive insurance coverage. If your vehicle is damaged by hail or any weather occurrence, the cost to repair the damage is covered. The only obligation you have out-of-pocket is the deductible. At MetalWorks, we cover this expense making the cost to repair ZERO.
  4. Get a second opinion. Insurance adjusters are not PDR technicians. They also work for your insurance company. On average, 20-25% of the hail damage on your vehicle is not accounted for when they write up your claim. Paintless dent repair companies have the proper lighting and trained eye for identifying ALL of the dents & dings caused by hail. At the time of inspection with your adjuster, let them know that you will be getting a second opinion.
  5. Call the Collin County, TX paintless dent repair professionals at MetalWorks. Inspections are free and only take about 15-20 minutes. We will inspect your vehicle and help you navigate the entire auto hail repair process. We deal directly with all insurance companies and will make sure the entire process is as painless as possible.
